What's Involved

The course is based on an integrative (psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural, humanistic) model, built upon Clarkson’s therapeutic relationship model. The course will cover theory, skills, practice and personal development with the emphasis on putting theory into practice.

This course is available as full-time only attendance which involves two days attendance at college.

Entry Requirements

  • A Counselling qualification at Level 3, with a minimum of 48 UCAS points*.
  • GCSE English and maths at Grade 4 (C) or above or equivalent Level 2 qualifications.
  • Complete an interview as part of the enrolment process;
  • Receive DBS check clearance.

You can move on to Counselling Practice and/or Postgraduate study.

Course Assessment Method

  • Written assignments, seminar papers, portfolios
  • Presentations
  • Practical assessment
  • Completion of 150 client hours (placement commences at Level 5, the 2nd year of training)
  • Completion of 60 hours Personal Counselling.
