Dream jobs and fantastic futures for former students
A starring role in a production of War Horse, working as a Volcanologist in Hawaii and coaching for Chelsea Football Club are just some of the exciting and diverse careers our former students have progressed to.
A huge majority of our students go on to successful futures giving Havering Sixth Form the accolade of being the top College in East London for student progression to positive destinations – and we are in the top 10 per cent of all schools, sixth forms and colleges nationally.
We give students the platform to make their next step, whether that be university, a job or an apprenticeship. The young people below have all worked hard and taken the opportunities given to them to carve out fantastic careers:
Billy studied BTEC Performing Arts (Acting) and achieved a Distinction* before he finished College in 2013. He then went to Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in North London and is currently performing in the 2017-2019 National Theatre touring production of War Horse, playing The Goose/Johann Schnabelh.
James attended College between 2011-2014, studying A Level Graphics and the Art & Design Foundation Diploma. He then achieved a First Class honours degree in Graphic Design at Central St Martins and has just gained a place on the BBC Graduate Scheme for Graphic and UX Design. There were more than 1,000 applicants and James was chosen for one of only three BBC positions.
Sinead studied A Levels in Geology, Philosophy and Biology, achieving AAB, and left College in 2009 to study Geology at the University of Leicester. She travelled the world working for a company that develops software to enable the efficient operation of mines and is now working for the Food Research Collaboration to influence and improve UK Food Policy.
Rory achieved a Triple Distinction in the BTEC Sport Extended Diploma and finished College in 2014. He secured a job as Community Development Assistant at Chelsea Football Club and has worked his way up to become one of the club’s football coaches.
Rianne gained A*BB grades in A Level Sociology, Law and English Language before leaving College in 2016 to go straight into a seven-year trailblazer legal solicitor Apprenticeship with Hill Dickinson LLP in the City.
Sam attended College between 2011-2014, studying A Level Graphics and the Art & Design Foundation Diploma. He then achieved a First Class honours from the University of Hertfordshire in Visual Effects. He won an Industry Award for best VFX and is now working for Double Negative who have recently produced blockbuster movies such as Dunkirk and Wonder Woman.
Michael is currently working as a Volcanologist in observatories across the globe, including Hawaii, Mexico and Montserrat. He conducts research in order to understand the evolution of volcanic systems. He left College in 2003 after achieving AAC grades in A Level Geology, Geography and Chemistry and studied Geology at Bristol University.
Emma is working at the Centre for the Response to Radicalisation and Terrorism at the Henry Jackson Society – a British political think-tank. She finished College in 2011 after achieving A*A*A* in A Level Philosophy, Religious Studies and Psychology. She then went to Cambridge University to read Theological and Religious Studies.
Peter represented Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics playing Volleyball. He left Havering Sixth Form in 2008 after gaining a Pass in the Art & Design Foundation Diploma and BCD in A Level Media, Graphics and Maths. He went to Sheffield Hallam University where he studied Animation and Scriptwriting. He has worked as a scriptwriter for Channel 4 drama Skins and is now a Social Media Manager.
Megan was a Student Governor and Student Council Chair while at College from 2009 to 2011. She achieved ABB in A Level Law, Government & Politics and History and then studied Law at the University of Kent. Megan now works as a Police Officer for the Metropolitan Police.
