What's Involved

You will be working towards a career in Health, Social Care or an Allied profession.

The National Foundation Diploma is a full time course and is suitable for both school leavers and mature students. You will study twelve units, which will provide an overview of the care industries. During the course you will participate in academic, practical and work related activities.

Entry Requirements

To apply for a place on the course you will need:

4 GCSEs grade 9 - 4 (A - C) including English Language and maths, or;

Btec First Diploma in a related subject at Merit level, or;

Intermediate GNVQ in a related subject at Merit level;

You are required to attend an interview and sit an entry test;

You will also be required to complete a Criminal Record Check.

Where will it take me?

This qualification is the equivalent to 1.5 A - levels. You may be able to progress on to the Extended Diploma or the Extended Certificate. When you pass this qualification you may be able to be employed as a practitioner in the Health & Social Care sector.

Course Assessment Method

You will complete projects and assignments based on realistic work place situations and activities.

The course consists of a variety of units, that examine in detail the more intricate opportunities available in the sector. In addition you will complete work experience in different settings to develop the skills required by workers in the care industries.
