What's Involved

The course provides students with the opportunity to gain experience and obtain a Level 2 qualification in Beauty Therapy. The course invites you to learn different aspects of Beauty Therapy and a chance to experience the Beauty Industry first hand when you go on a weeks work placement. A chance to study and train in a realistic working environment and an opportunity to progress onto Level 3 Beauty Therapy. You will study manicure, pedicure, facials, make-up, eye treatments and waxing. Theory work includes written tasks for each unit. You will also have online examinations for all units. Additionally, you will produce a portfolio containing pratical and theory work.

Entry Requirements

You will have completed a Level 1 qualification in Beauty Therapy or a relevant subject or you'll have GCSE English and Maths at Grade 3 (D) plus two other GCSEs Grade 3 (D) in any other subject.

You'll also sit a positive interview and undertake assessments to determine your ongoing English and Maths skill levels.

Where will it take me?

This qualification will give you the foundation to begin a career in beauty therapy, or to advance in your career by gaining new skills. You may consider working in a variety of roles including:

  • Nail Technician;
  • Beauty Therapist;
  • Beauty Consultant;
  • Make-Up Artist;
  • Spa Therapist.

Following on from successful completion of this course you can progress onto either an NVQ or VRQ at Level 3 in Beauty Therapy. At that point you may decide to consider one of two options in either electrical face and body treatments or the more commonly selected massage route. Alternatively you may choose to consider a variety of Awards in individual treatments or a Level 2 qualification in Women’s Hairdressing.

Course Assessment Method

Assessment is continuous throughout the academic year and you will complete treatments on peers and clients alike. After each assessment you will be given feedback from your tutor to give you the knowledge required to make any improvements ready for summative assessments. When you are ready for final assessment you will be assessed in a practical environment as you complete the practical treatments on salon clients.

All units require you to complete and pass an online assessment relating to the essential knowledge and understanding for the theory aspect of the unit. You will be given the detailed information required to support you with research and fact-finding in preparation for revision for each of these online assessments.
