Gerry was appointed Interim Chief Executive of the College on 05 October 2018. Gerry is also the Group Principal and CEO of New City College since 2016. Previously he was Principal of Tower Hamlets College since April 2013 following almost four years as the College’s Vice Principal – Curriculum & Standards.
Gerry is a qualified business studies teacher who has worked in the sector since 1993. He holds business degrees from University of West of England and Aston and a PGCE from Manchester Metropolitan University. Gerry has worked in sixth form and further education colleges in Birmingham and London, leading on business development, mergers, curriculum improvement, inspection and culture change.
Stan’s association with the College dates from 1974, when he was a visiting lecturer on the North East Thames Regional Health Authority Senior Nursing Management courses. He subsequently lectured on numerous management courses, held by the College for the NHS, and was a visiting lecturer at the NHS Regional Training Centre.
As a member of the College’s Business Liaison Committee, he represented the College on Havering Council’s Work Related Education Committee. Stan became a member of the Governing Body in 1990 and is now Chairman of the Corporation. He is also Chair of the Remuneration Committee.
He holds a Master of Arts degree, majoring in Organisational Analysis & Education. Before retirement, he was employed as an NHS Associate Director, Clinical Governance.
He has undertaken consultancies at King Fahad Hospital, Saudi Arabia, Charing Cross Hospital and other London hospitals and was visiting lecturer at the Institute of Child Health at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children for the World Health Organisation. An experienced and successful Employment Tribunal Advocate, he was Personnel Consultant to a number of private sector organisations and charities.
He is currently a Director and Trustee of the Synergy Drug & Alcohol Service; Vice Chairman and Hon. Member and ex-Chairman of the Chelmsford Ballet Company (with which he still performs!). Stan was a long serving Divisional Training Officer in the Red Cross and holder of the Voluntary Medical Services Medal, and a Chief Rescue Officer in Home Defence. He has many theatre arts and sporting interests and is currently learning to play the piano.
Dawn is currently working at the Department for Education (DfE) as a policy advisor and is qualified project manager. Since joining the DfE, Dawn has worked on a number of high profile policy projects which include, establishing the Teaching Agency and the undertaking of Ministerial policy priorities in relation to pay and conditions of service. Her current role is in teacher engagement strategy, which includes responsibility for stakeholder groups and teacher communications.
Dawn has worked in education and public service for over twenty years and has extensive experience of HR and employment policy. She has previously worked for the General Teaching Council for England, an independent regulatory and advisory body for teaching and a Higher Education trade union for university teachers. Prior to this she worked in the private sector. Dawn joined the Corporation as a Governor in July 2013 and she became Vice Chair of the Corporation and Chair of the Search and Governance Committee in September 2015.
Trevor is Pro Vice Chancellor (Partnerships) at Anglia Ruskin University. He holds degrees from three universities and has worked extensively in South and South East Asia, the Caribbean and across Europe. He has published several books and a number of papers in learned journals. His former roles include Dean of the Lord Ashcroft International Business School at Anglia Ruskin University.
He is a keen supporter of the arts and also enjoys reading, cooking and fruit and vegetable gardening. Trevor joined the Corporation as a Governor in December 2014.
Ruth was Director, Finance & Administration, at Carers UK, a charity which works to improve the lives of unpaid carers, until her retirement in 2013. Ruth is the link governor for the College’s careers provision.
Ruth is a chartered accountant. She worked for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales as Student Counsellor and on education and training policy and was a charity trustee for many years. Ruth joined the Corporation as a Governor in 2010.
Peter is a partner at PKF Geoffrey Martin & Co, a business restructuring and advisory practice based in Canary Wharf. Peter has worked in the restructuring sector for over 20 years and provides advice to a wide range of companies and individuals facing financial difficulties.
Peter is a licensed Insolvency Practitioner and sits on the Investigation Committee of his regulatory body, the Insolvency Practitioners Association. He is regularly involved in external training and professional education programmes provided by the Association of Business Recovery Professionals. Peter joined the Corporation as a Governor in July 2013.
Garrett Studied an Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education in performing arts at Epping Forest College. After completing the course he took a gap year and became the Sabbatical President of the Students Union at Epping Forest College. During his time as President, he also became a Student Governor and a Trustee of Voluntary Action Epping Forest. Garrett then went to University of Winchester and studied a Degree in Drama Studies and Performing Arts, graduating in 2007. Whilst at University Garrett was involved in the Winchester Students Union.
After leaving University, Garrett was employed by Havering College as Student Development Worker. Garrett is now into his sixth academic year actively supporting the Students' Union at Havering College. Garrett is an informal educator and regards students’ welfare and personal development as paramount.
Eric is a partner at Littlejohn LLP Chartered Accountants based at Canary Wharf. Eric advises SMEs and their owners in a variety of industries and acts for a number of UK subsidiaries and UK branches of international companies, both private and public, in Europe, America and Asia. He has extensive experience of acting for membership organisations and trade bodies and heads up the team operating in this area. He also deals with serious tax investigations.
He was the non-executive chairman of a corporate clothing company for over 10 years, until 2013.
He has been a mentor for The Prince’s Trust, managed a junior football team and chair of Covent Garden Business Forum. Eric joined the Corporation in February 2009 after being a co-opted member of the Audit Committee for two years.
Geoff Morgan worked for four international organisations. He started his career as a graduate trainee with Ford Motor Company and worked there for 10 years in a variety of different employee relations positions which included an assignment to the Ford Press Office. He then moved to the City of London to join JP Morgan, the US investment bank, where he was Vice President, Personnel for the London Office. After some 9 years, he transferred to Lloyds Merchant Bank to join the board as Director of Personnel and Support Services and served for around 7 years.
His final appointment for 12 years was in the global insurance market as Director, Human Resources and Property Services for Lloyd’s of London, which included responsibility for the iconic symbol of the City, the Lloyd’s Building.
A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, he holds a dual honours degree in Psychology and Sociology from Sheffield University. He is a former member of the Insurance Industry Training Council and a founder member of the London Human Resources Group, which has researched and published several reports on employment and human resources in the City.
Geoff was a governor of Saint Martin’s School, Brentwood, one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country, and chaired the Board for four years. Involved with charities, he is Chair of trustees and a director of Brentwood Citizens Advice Bureau. He was also a trustee and on the board of the employment charity Tomorrow’s People and chaired the Nominations and Remuneration Committee. He was appointed a Governor of Havering College in January 2013.
Colin is the Manager for Petrol Engine Test at Ford Motor Company, Dunton Technical centre
Colin has worked for Ford since 1979; he has experience covering all aspects of Human Resource management, Safety management and is responsible for the provision of petrol engine test development for global Ford model programs.
Colin joined the Corporation in June 2007 and is the Chair of the Audit Committee. He is also a member of the Search & Governance and Student/Governor Committees. Colin is the Safeguarding Lead Governor on the Corporation.
