What's Involved

The aim of this course is to give students the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to be able to communicate verbally. This includes engaging in conversations for different purposes and in different contexts, such as in everyday life, in the workplace, and in their place of study. Students will be able to listen and respond, to speak and to engage in discussion and they will be able to pronounce words clearly with appropriate stress and intonation. By the end of the course they should be able to make requests to obtain information and provide a short verbal account. They will also be able to ask for clarification, give facts and express simple views and feelings.

You will learn how to:

  • Follow the gist of simple verbal communication
  • Communicate effectively in English
  • Convey information in a given task
  • Engage in discussion with others effectively

This course is a stand-alone award, therefore students would not study anything else alongside it.
