The aim of the GCSE is to provide a broad, coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study. Students will learn how to improve their numeracy skills, work through real-life problems and build knowledge and confidence through a variety of paired and group activities. Students should also be able to recall, select and apply mathematical formulae and recall facts, terminology and definitions.  as well as accurately carry out routine procedures or set tasks requiring multi-step solutions.

You will learn how to:

  • Make deductions, inferences and draw conclusions from mathematical information
  • Construct chains of reasoning to achieve a given result
  • Interpret and communicate information accurately
  • Present arguments and proofs
  • Translate problems in mathematical or non-mathematical contexts into a process or series of mathematical processes
  • Evaluate solutions, methods used and results obtained
