If you are interested in Decorating and would like to progress into employment this may be the course for you. This course will assist you on the right road to a career in the decorating Trade. Suitable for all ages and ability.

Course elements include:

  • All aspects of health and Safety Information, quantities and communication with others,
  • Building methods and construction technology,
  • Erecting and dismantling access equipment,
  • Preparing surfaces for decorating, Applying paint systems, Applying foundation and plain papers,
  • Producing specialist decorative finishes.

The construction industry has had for many years a traditional apprenticeship programme covering the craft occupations. Painters and Decorators operate in domestic and commercial properties and undertake the decoration and protection of buildings. Properties include houses, schools, offices, hospitals factories and construction sites. Working internally or externally they work individually and/or as part of a team applying water-borne and/or solvent-borne paint coatings and wallcoverings. Painters have good knowledge of paint coatings and wallcoverings and understand and comply with statutory, safety and environmental requirements. They are responsible for their own work achieving a high quality finish at the appropriate pace. Painters are good problem solvers and communicators and are able to interact effectively with colleagues, clients and associated trades.

The minimum duration of this apprenticeship is 18 months and typically 24months. You will be required to attend college one day per week.

If you have successfully achieved your level 1 Diploma in Painting and Decorating and wish to continue your career this course may be for you. Candidates with some painting and decorating experience may also be considered.

The construction industry has had for many years a traditional apprenticeship programme covering the craft occupations. This framework will help to attract, retain and develop talent into a range of craft occupations at Intermediate (Level 2) and Advanced (Level 3) in construction building and provide progression to supervisory and management level in order to provide the industry with a well-trained productive workforce.

The duration of this apprenticeship is generally 24 months.
