What's Involved

This is two year part time course. The Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering is a 120-credit. This qualification that consists of six mandatory units plus optional units that provide for a combined total of 120 credits (where at least 90 credits must be at level 3 or above). This can be achieved in one year full time course.

Entry Requirements

At least 4 GCSEs at grades 4 (C) including English and Mathematics subjects. Or BTEC First Diploma level 2 at Merit or above in a related subject, and GCSE in English.

A mature learner with relevant industrial experiences could be accredited with prior learning. You'll need to provide a good reference and the final outcome will depend on the interview with the course tutor.

Where will it take me?

BTEC Extended Diploma / Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Higher Education courses at University.

Course Assessment Method

All students take these six core units:

• Communications for Engineering Technicians • Mechanical Principles and Applications • Mathematics for Engineering Technicians • Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace • Engineering Project (double unit).

Specialist Units May Include:

• Computer Aided Design • Application of CNC in Engineering • Thermodynamics • Advanced Mechanical Principles • Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials • Further Mathematics.
