What's Involved

The Electrical & Electronic Engineering Level 3 Extended Diploma is year two of a full time two year course. If you have not completed the first year, you should apply for the Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Engineering.

Learners gain relevant skills and knowledge from studying a range of units, for example in electronic devices and circuits, power and energy systems, printed circuit board design and manufacture, microcontrollers and/or calculus.

Progression could be either directly to employment in Level 3 job roles, higher apprenticeship programmes or via higher education courses in engineering.

Entry Requirements

You will need to have successfully completed the first year of the Level 3 Electrical & Electronic Engineering Subsidiary Diploma (or National Diploma), and have GCSE Grade 6 (B) in maths, and Grade 4 (C) in English and Double Science.

Course Assessment Method

Equivalent in size to three A Levels.

15 units of which 7 are mandatory and 3 are external:

  • Mandatory content (56%)
  • External assessment (33%).
