300 Attend Teachers Reception 2

"New teachers in Havering were given a reception last week. There were more than 300."

TO WELCOME teachers who have just been appointed to Havering Technical College on Wednesday evening.

About 300  people attended. One hundred and twenty of those had just come from universities or colleges and are joining Havering schools in September.

The ramaining guests were teaches who have moved to Havering to take up new appointments.

Also present were 24 foreign assistants from Germany, France, Spain and Italy who have been appointed to Havering secondary schools for the year 1968-9.

The Deputy Mayor of Havering, Councillor Bill Smith, and his wife Angie were among the guests present.

Others were the chairman of the Education Committee, Councillor W. Smith, and his wife, the Chief Education Officer, Mr. D. Wilcockson, and other senior officers of the Education Department.

Afetr the reception guests were invited to look round the college.
