Made in Havering – that’s the new plaque bearing the borough’s coat of arms above the mayoral chair in Romford Town Hall.
The 3ft. x 2ft. ceramic mural was made by students and staff at Havering Technical College, Ardleigh Green.
It was presented to the Mayor, Ald. Bill Sibley, and the full council last week.
Representing the college were two art students, Rosalie Bacon and Daryl Croucher, both 17, their teacher Mr. Phillip Holmes and college principal Mr. Frederick Janes.
Former Conservative councillor Mr. Bob Blythe, chairman of the college governors, told the council how the coat of arms had been made from individual pieces of glazed and fired clay.
Ald. Sibley said he was “deeply touched” that the plaque should be presented to commemorate his term as mayor.
