Sharon a Girl With a Future 1Teenager Sharon Morrad has been a hairdresser only three months. But she is already making a name for herself.

On Monday night she came third in a hairdressing contest at Havering Technical College. There were over 40 entrants in the competition, which was organised by the college, Havering Education committee, and Redbridge branch of the National Hairdressers’ Federation.

Sharon, 16, of Dulverton-road, Harold Hill, works in a salon near her home. Her model was Mrs Ann Lamb, 49, of Melksham Gardens, Harold Hill.

Said Sharon: “My boss suggested I went in for the contest. Mrs Lamb. is one of my customers.”

Said Mrs Lamb. “It was nice to get a free hair-do. I think Sharon is very talented.”

The competition was open to apprentices working in salons in this area and part-time and full-time college students. The winner was Susan Shires 17, of Leigh-on-Sea. Second was Stephen Plappert, 18, of Southend.

Prizes were presented by Cllr. Mrs.J. Collins vice-chairman of the college’s board of governors.
