Engineers Form Group to Train 2Engineering employers from Havering and Brentwood have teamed up to form a group training association backed by the Engineering Industries Training Board.

The new organisation, called the South-West Essex Group Training Association, aims to set up a comprehensive training programme from apprentice to management level.

Also participating in the project are companies from Redbridge, Barking and Waltham Forest.

Training facilities at local technical colleges Rush Green, Waltham Forest and Havering will be available to the association.

And also involved are the three Ministry of Technology Industrial Liaison Officers for the area.

Eventually the Association will employ a training officer to co-ordinate a programme of training.

Last week at the inaugural meeting of the group which so far has 15 members Mr. S. W. Holman, managing director of G. A Tools Ltd. Of Romford and spokesman for the group, described the enterprise as a similar to a firm.

Member companies, he said, would in effect act as one enterprise where training was concerned.

Growth

Also at the meeting was Mr. H. J. Medhurst, senior EITB training officer for the area. “I am quite sure,” he said. “That by the end of the year this group will have gown to some 24 firms involving about 4,000 employees.”

A meeting will be held shortly to elect a chairman, secretary and treasurer for the Association.
