37500 Centre Opened 1 The new engineering centre at was Havering Technical College was opened on Wednesday by councillor Norman Richards Chairman of the Education Committee.

Construction of the building started in August last year after Havering Council approved a sum of £37,500 to be set aside for building and equipping of an engineering centre.

The object of the training centre is to provide thirty-six trainees with opportunities to obtain a basic practical first year knowledge of engineering.

As well as practical instruction and first-hand experience the trainees receive full use of all college facilities allowing them more social life and chance to become active members of college societies which they would not otherwise be able to do as release students.
