Do You Want To Be A TeacherHavering needs more teachers. So the education committee is staging two one-day conferences with the aim of interesting older boys and girls in a teaching career.

The first, for fifth-formers, is at Romford County High School for Girls, Brentwood Road, on July 5. It will be opened by Mr. D. H. Wilcockson, chief education officer, and chaired by Miss J. M. Hetherington, inspector of schools. Speaker will be Mr. J. A. Naylor, of London University Institute of Education.

Films

The second, for sixth-formers, is at Hornchurch College of Further Education on July 12: Chairman will be Mr. R. C. Betts, chief inspector of schools and speaker Mr. E. A. Wheeler, deputy principal of Goldsmiths College.

It is hoped that 200 to 250 will attend on each day. The conferences will last from 9.30 a.m. till 4.15 p.m., and will include films on various types of schools, discussion groups and an open forum.
