Marys a Racing CertA GIRL with a passion for horses is taking up an unusual job in a couple of months’ time at Newmarket’s Equine Research Station. Mary Bibbings, a 16-year-old student at Hornchurch College of Further Education, will be involved with the serious side of horse-racing.

The research centre comes under the Animal Health trust and Mary’s duties will include testing or doping, pregnancies and diseases among the animals in her care. At Hornchurch, where she is coming towards the end of a year’s science laboratory technician’s course, Mary explained: “Horses are my first love. I’m delighted I’ve got a job working with them. It’s what I’ve always wanted to do.”
