havering college aoc love our colleges header

As you may be aware, this week is national Colleges week and we are pleased to be supporting the Love our Colleges campaign.

The campaign is an opportunity to highlight all of the efforts that go in to making Colleges what they are, as well as the outstanding staff and students that make it all possible. It is also an opportunity to rally for government reform regarding College funding and payment, as a result of the 30% cuts that have been imposed over the last ten years, which has impacted Colleges drastically.

It goes without saying that we are very proud of the College we have become since our establishment in 1947. As an Ofsted-rated good provider, we continuously strive to create a safe and stimulating environment in which our students can learn, grow and improve, fulfilling their abilities and ambitions.

Ultimately, the dedication of our staff allows us to achieve the above, and the success that our students and the College have seen recently, as well as in the past, speak for themselves, as do some of the praise our students have given:

If it wasn’t for the provision here I would never have gone to University because I didn’t have A-Levels. I plan to do my masters here too - Kerry Seager, studying the Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools Foundation Degree.
Havering College to me is both a home and a family. A home because they accept you for who you are, and family because the tutors are like parents who teach you new things every day – Tashana Johnson, Applied Science and Technology student.
Havering College was the only place that had the course I wanted to do. The support from them has been really helpful; they’ve helped me grow as a confident person and offered me opportunities – Abby Foley, Level 3 Extended Diploma Fashion student.

So, as staff and students, how can you get involved with the campaign? You can join the lobby of parliament today, post on social media using the #LoveOurColleges hashtag and sign the official petition. As a show of support for Havering College, you could also follow us on our social media platforms and comment on them about raising awareness of the funding challenges Colleges are facing.

Support us, support the campaign, and together we can make a difference.
