havering college ppe personal protective equipment donation swift brickwork

Steve Pease, the Construction Director at Swift Brickwork, kindly donated some personal protective equipment (PPE) to our construction students today.

The purpose of the donation is to embed the compulsory requirement of PPE in construction students so that they become accustomed to wearing it from day one, and in doing so, ensuring they are work-ready. There is a constant absence of PPE on worksites which often results in apprentices getting red-carded from them.

The standard requirement for site workers is what is known as five-point PPE, which consists of boots, a hard hat, a high visibility vest, gloves and safety goggles, with the latter four being donated by Steve (shown above).

In addition, the donation also strengthens the professional relationship between the College and Swift Brickwork, who are looking to hire some apprentices from our cohort. From this, we hope to establish a better collaboration with other construction employers.

We would like to extend our thanks to Steve and the team at Swift Brickwork for their continued support.

If you are interested in any of our construction courses, we encourage you to come along to our Rainham Construction Centre Open Event on Tuesday 13th November, where you will be able to speak to the team and see the facilities.
