Our creative arts students, past and present, are seeing success after success recently, from winning awards to showcasing at London Fashion Week.

And now Chloe Brown, who studied the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, is flying through her Costume Construction degree, which is delivered in partnership with South Essex College, the Royal Opera House and University of the Arts London.

As part of her studies, Chloe has undertaken various work experience placements. In her second year, she had the amazing opportunity to work on the Royal Ballet’s Swan Lake, where she helped make and decorate the swan costumes. She even got to see the dress rehearsal of the production, about which she said:

I absolutely adored it. It felt so amazing to see my work on stage.

Chloe’s work with Swan Lake led to another fantastic opportunity at the beginning of summer this year. The head of the Thurrock costume workroom recommended her for a position on the production of Me and My Girl, her first paid costume job, where she contributed to the making of the Pearly King and Queen costumes.

When Chloe graduates, she wants to become a ladies maker specialising in opera and ballet. We have no doubt that she will exceed in her field and wish her all the best for the future.
