You may recall that we were nominated for five awards at The Brents this year, and it is with great pleasure to announce that we won two of them.
Sean Erwood took home the award for ‘Best Supporting Actor Aged 18 and Under’, and a collective effort from everyone saw us win the ‘Best Design of a Play’ award, for our retelling of Carol Ann Duffy’s Beasts and Beauties.
The poet’s renowned stories of Europe include Bluebeard, Beauty and the Beast and the Emperor’s New Clothes amongst others. Our dedicated team put together a fantastic multi-role character performance back in May, encompassing these stories in such a creative and modern way that resulted in these nominations.
The College’s principal Maria Thompson and chair of governors Stan Rose were in attendance to celebrate the achievements, as well as performing arts staff and students.
Mark Smithers, Assistant Principal – Academy of Arts and Science, who also attended, praised the continued efforts of the performing arts department:
This is a great achievement for the college and the performing arts students. It is a just reward for all of your hard work and effort.
Well done to all involved for the excellent work and their commitment to the College.
