We are extremely proud to have received five nominations at The Brents this year, our most successful year to date.

The Brents is an annual awards ceremony for non-professionals hosted by the Brentwood Theatre. It celebrates the incredible talent we see in the shows put on at the theatre, as well as the relentless hard-work that goes into them behind the scenes.

Rewind to September, the start of a new academic year. Performing arts staff and students are a mix of emotions, trying to get the ball rolling on an end-of-year show. Eight months and one outstanding performance later, they are ecstatic to receive an impressive quarter of the 20 awards up for grabs at The Brents, for their retelling of a handful of Europe’s best known tales in their Beasts and Beauties performance.

We have been nominated for the Best Design of a Play and The Mary Redman Award for Best Production of a Play, as well as having three student nominees in the Best Supporting Actress Aged 18 & Under and Best Supporting Actor Aged 18 & Under categories.

Drama lecturer Julia Stallard voiced her delight at the nominations:

We're enormously proud of all our students' achievements both on stage and off. Beasts and Beauties gave our second year drama students the opportunity to multi-role play and was a truly ensemble piece which was well received by their audience. Our congratulations go to each and every one of them on the nominations.

The Brents will be taking place on Wednesday 5th September from 7:30pm at The Brentwood Theatre. Should you wish to attend and show your support, tickets cost £15 and can be purchased online or by calling the box office on 01277 200305.

Well done to our staff and students for putting together such a fantastic performance and congratulations on your nominations.
