Hannah Wood, a previous Legal Secretary student, has recently gained full time employment with Herbert Smith Freehills.
Herbert Smith Freehills is an international law firm with headquarters in London. It is the result of a merge between UK based Herbert Smith, then one of the UK’s leading law firms, and Freehills, previously one of the ‘Big Six’ law firms in Australia.
We have previously welcomed them to the College for our industry day in March (pictured above), where our students were able to gain an insight into the industry and apply what they learnt to any future roles, which Hannah will no doubt be doing.
As an administrative assistant/legal PA to a senior associate, Hannah is tasked with completing expenses, taking phone calls and billing clients amongst other duties. Each day brings something different and a brand new challenge.
Hannah’s time at Herbert Smith Freehills started with a two week work experience programme during her level 2 qualification this past academic year, before going on to working for them twice a week. Her dedication and enthusiasm whilst there resulted in this offer of a permanent job.
Speaking fondly of her time at the company, Hannah said:
Whilst doing the 2 day a week placement, I learnt a lot about the role of an administrative assistant/legal PA in a London Law firm, as well as meeting new people which helped me grow in confidence.
I am enjoying the work and I am grateful for the opportunity that the work experience provided for me so I was able to start my career as quickly as possible.
Hannah’s success is yet another example of the benefits of work experience and networking. Congratulations from all at Havering College.
