Mechanical Engineering student Luke James recently landed himself an apprenticeship with entertainment giant Merlin Entertainments.
Luke, who was also a Career Colleges student, completed work experience at The London Dungeon, which is just one of many well-known attractions owned and operated by Merlin.
Whilst there, he assisted the team with equipment start-ups, any problems throughout the shows, and equipment maintenance in the workshops.
Speaking of his time at Merlin, Luke said:
I undertook work experience because I wanted to widen my opportunities and open a lot of doors for me within the engineering field, and it really did.
It also allowed him to get out of the classroom and into a practical environment where he could gain some hands-on experience.
It is evident from Luke’s story, then, that the possibility of full-time employment, combined with exposure to the real world, makes work placements a priceless experience.
Congratulations to Luke from all at Havering College!
