We are extremely proud to announce that Abby Foley, one of our Level 3 Extended Diploma Fashion students, has been selected as a finalist in this year’s Fashion Futures project hosted by FAD.
FAD is an award-winning charity that provides young people with a platform to enhance their creative careers through a range of fashion workshops, competitions and professional experiences.
The Fashion Futures project gives 16-19 year olds instrumental hands-on training and industry practice which will prepare them for further study and the workplace. It is a fantastic opportunity that will allow Abby (pictured above) to strengthen her knowledge and skillset.
Following in the footsteps of Holly Coutts and Ruquia Ahmed, previous Havering College students who were selected as finalists, Abby will attend a summer school to complete her garment, which will be showcased by a professional model at the end of London Fashion Week in September.
She expressed her thanks for the support she has received from the College during her studies:
Havering College was the only place that had the course I wanted to do. The support from them has been really helpful; they’ve helped me grow as a confident person and they offered me opportunities like FAD and work experience.
Abby’s talents have secured her an unconditional place at De Montfort University where she will continue her studies and we do not doubt that she looks forward to a promising career in the fashion industry.
