The College is delighted to announce that it has been successful in a bid for HEFCE funding from the Catalyst Fund. The college is receiving the funding to raise awareness and support HE students facing mental health issues and domestic abuse.
The project was launched last week with an awareness event where the students had fun taking part in the stress busting activities in the chill-out zone, they gave excellent feedback and ideas for what they would like from the project next year. There was supporting literature on hand as well as chill-out gift bags that students could decorate.
There will be a series of events aimed at encouraging awareness of domestic abuse, and support and help for mental health issues. Planning is also underway to set up a café where students can meet on a regular basis to access support in a place where they feel comfortable discussing their issues and concerns led by appropriately-trained staff.
