Liberate your Style Aspiring fashion designer, Chloe Clay, 17 from Romford has been named a finalist in a prestigious fashion design competition, which has attracted global attention.

She is one of the entrants who have been shortlisted to create and showcase their unique designs at The Liberty Shopping Centre Catwalk Show in Romford on Friday 27th May 2016.

Chloe Clay, currently a student, at Havering College, took inspiration for her design from Vogue’s 2016 fashion reports. Chloe’s design incorporates luxurious glamour with floral feminine features creating the perfect romantic ensemble.

Chloe said: “I would never have thought that I would be a finalist at this years fashion show, I can’t wait to see my design brought to life.”

Now in its seventh year, the competition - run by The Liberty Shopping Centre in conjunction with iconic high street brand M&S - has received a record number of entries with designs flooding in from as far afield as Turkey, Japan and Australia.

Finalists in the competition, who range from budding students through to established designers, were tasked with designing an innovative women’s or menswear garment, which reflects what ‘style’ means to them, and creating a Pinterest mood board outlining their concept.

Following the catwalk show, one lucky finalist will be crowned The Liberty Fashion Designer of the year 2016 and will win a £1,000 injection into starting up a business or furthering their design career, which can go towards marketing, purchasing equipment or fabrics, hiring models for shows or attending key fashion events. They will also receive a trophy, plus expert business advice from M&S.

Following its popularity last year, the ‘People’s Choice Award’ will also return for a second year, the winner of which will receive a trophy, £100 gift card for The Liberty and a pair of Gold tickets to London Fashion Weekend in September.

Centre Manager, Jonathan Poole said: “Each year The Liberty Fashion Design Competition gets bigger and bigger and primary stage is increasingly competitive. This year has been no exception, with the quality of entries being the highest we’ve ever seen. Each concept demonstrates creative and innovative interpretations of style – it’s going to be quite a show!”

The catwalk show marks the start of the stylish shopping centre’s Fashion Show Weekend, which takes place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May 2016 and will showcase the latest arrivals and seasonal collections from the centre’s hottest retailers.
