Cabaret

HND Performing Arts students Lauren Ghost and Molly Taylorson presented their own cabaret show at the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch.

Accompanied by a three-piece band, the students performed 90 minutes of contemporary musical theatre songs and jazz standards interspersed with anecdotes and chat.

Lauren and Molly have been studying at Havering College for four years, two years on the Level 3 BTEC in Musical Theatre followed by the HNC and HND in Performing Arts.

Musical theatre lecturer, Simon Gray praised their achievement:

"They make it look easy, but to helm an entire cabaret event by yourself is hugely difficult. The students have taken complete charge of the project themselves--everything from selecting and musically arranging the material, to promoting the event. They have an immense talent for interpreting the works of classic songwriters like Cole Porter and Stephen Sondheim as well as championing a new generation of writers like Kerrigan and Lowdermilk. It has been a privilege to work with them."
