Four specialists visited the college's Rainham Campus Construction Centre in New Road, Rainham, to share their knowledge and give guidance on how to maximise chances when seeking a job or apprenticeship.

The visitors were:

• Stephen Blake, a designer craftsman at Jungle Joinery, with more than 30 years of "hands on" carpentry and joinery and design craft experience.
• Leroy Joseph, Owner and Managing Director of Gateway Professional Training Limited.
• Lee Kyson, a Director at Kyson Construction Ltd.
• Rob O'Regan, Contracts Manager at Interserve Construction Ltd - one of the world's foremost support services and construction companies.

As part of the session, 80 students on Trowel Trades, Carpentry and Joinery, Construction & Built Environment courses were encouraged to ask questions about the industry.

Rob O'Regan said: "This is an industry of opportunity that can take students down so many different career paths. The college has very impressive facilities for the learning of various construction skills."

The event was organised by the college's Enterprise and Employability Hub in conjunction with the Our Talented Future employment consultancy as one of a series of course related industry days being staged for all students across the college.

Construction Industry Day 01 637

Our Talented Future co-founder Adam Watling, who chaired the construction seminar, said: "We are very grateful to our panellists. They are all inspirational individuals who have achieved a lot in the fields that these students will one day be working in."
