What's Involved

This course is studied over two years and fully meets entry requirements for progression to a university degree course, apprenticeship or directly into employment. Students will work on a number of practical assignments in units and will be assessed on a grade scale of Pass, Merit or Distinction. Some units are mandatory and some are optional.

  • Using Social Media in Business
  • Programming
  • Website Development
  • Computer Games Development
  • IT Project Management
  • Cyber Security and Incident Management

The Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels. It is a complete programme and is therefore not taken with any other course. Having a sound understanding of IT systems will benefit you personally and professionally. You can apply the knowledge, skills and understanding gained to succeed in your future career.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade 4, including English and/or Maths and an IT/Computing qualification

Where will it take me?

Successful completion of this course can lead to the study of higher education courses and university degrees, such as Information Technology, Digital Technology Solutions, Games Technology, Management for Business or Computer Forensics. It also enables students to develop knowledge and skills needed for entry-level roles related to IT, including vocational apprenticeship and trainee roles, such as a social media specialist, web/content developer, or business analyst.

Course Assessment Method

Coursework-based 58% Internal and 42% External Assessment.
