Free-Online-Learning-Courses Advanced-Learner-Loans-5 Havering-College-Achievement-Rates-2015

This is a 12 week course for adults with continuous start dates throughout the year. With guidance and support you'll work online towards achieving a recognised Level 2 qualification, and receive your certificate on completion. Please apply or contact us for further information.

There were an estimated 4.9 million private sector businesses in the UK at the start of 2013. Despite the recent economic difficulties, the trend has been a steady increase in the business population. Today’s global economy brings with it a wealth of new markets, shrinking profit margins and increasing operating expenses; the need for good business administration has never been greater.

This nationally accredited certificate, which develops understanding of basic administration concepts and practices, is based on the business and administration national occupational standard.

The Level 1 NCFE Certificate is designed for students who want to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of business and enterprise which includes a vocational and hands-on element. It has been developed to enthuse and inspire students to consider a career in business and enterprise. The qualification will appeal to those students who may wish to either set up their own business in the future, move into employment or progress onto further study.

There are four units of coursework which will be studied:

  • Introduction to Business and Enterprise
  • Marketing for Business and Enterprise
  • Finance for Business and Enterprise
  • Plan, Outline and Take Part in a Business or Enterprise Project

Students will be expected to study both English and Maths alongside this qualification. Throughout the course they will also be involved in setting up a small business enterprise and raising money towards a charity of their choice.

The course gives an insight into different aspects of business and lessons are a mixture of group work, class discussions, role play, individual research and presentations. Students will learn key areas of working within a business and there is an expectation of a large amount of writing within this course in order to pass the necessary units.

As part of this course all students will work as a team to raise funds for a local charity and will also take part in work experience. Students are able to re-sit GCSE English and/or Maths at the same time as studying this course.

The Level 3 NCFE Applied General Certificate is designed primarily for students who may wish to either set up their own business in the future, move into employment in the industry or progress onto further study to enhance their knowledge of business. The course has been developed to enthuse and inspire students with its strong vocational and hands-on element. Students will learn key areas of working within a business, such as Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Teamwork and Business Communication.

  • Management of people and operations

  • Produce a business plan for a business/enterprise
  • Evaluate a business plan for a business/enterprise

Taught by business specialists, the qualification involves completing practical assignments, self-study assignments and presentations that are based on real workplace situations. As part of this course all students will work as a team to raise funds for a local charity and will also take part in work experience. 

Students who study for this qualification will have successfully completed GCSEs to grade 4 or above or passed a Level 2 vocational qualification. The course gives students the knowledge, understanding and skills that underpin the business sector and will prepare them for further study or training. There are a selection of optional units designed to assess students' understanding of business through vocational scenarios. These include learning about business start-ups, financial decision-making, marketing techniques and the importance of being an effective manager.
