What's Involved

This course is suitable for people with an interest in Electrical Installation work and wishing to become an electrician. The course will provide practical tuition combined with underpinning knowledge.

Entry Requirements

You should have GCSE Grade 4 English and maths.

You will also need a satisfactory reference and interview.

You may progress on to this course from our Level 1 Electrical Course providing you can evidence good attendance and have shown progress in English and maths.

Where will it take me?

Successful students with a proven track record of good attendance and behaviour can progress on to our Level 3 programme as a route to achieving Approved Electrician status. If you gain employment you may also gain direct entry to our Apprenticeship Programme.

This will enable you to gain employment in the Electrical Contracting Industry and enable you to get onto the NVQ which is also offered by Havering College.

Course Assessment Method

There are formal assessments to test your knowledge in the form of computer-based examinations, practical assessments and completion of a portfolio.

Compulsory units include:

  • Health & Safety;
  • Electrical science;
  • Electrical principles;
  • Wiring regulations and legal requirements;
  • Practical assessments.
