Auto Electro Technology

This course is highly practical and is for those who wish to gain a foundation qualification in Electrical Installation work. Students will become competent in a range of tasks and skills. An integral part of the course is the inclusion of numeracy and literacy, to enable the student to reach National Test Level 2 standard.

Are you interested in electrical installation work and wishing to become a qualified electrician? If so, this qualification is designed for new entrants to the Electrotech industry, providing you with the basic skills and experience you need. The course is available either full- or part-time. The part-time option is taken over either two evenings or one-day per week. This programme will be of particular interest to adult learners.

The course provides practical and theoretical tuition. There are a number of practical tasks that you will need to carry out during the year. This is combined with a high level of underpinning knowledge in workshop/site safety, electrical principles, science and regulations. It is approximately 50:50 theory/practical.

This course is suitable for people with an interest in Electrical Installation work and wishing to become an electrician. The course will provide practical tuition combined with underpinning knowledge.

You can choose to study either full time 2 days per week; part time 2 evenings per week; or part time 1 day per week. The course is for those who have successfully completed the City & Guilds 2330 level 2 or the 2365 level 2 Diploma.

There are a number of modules including Inspection and Testing, Fault Finding & Rectification, Electrical System Design plus associated theory. This is a higher level course and the assessment process requires handwritten and multiple choice exams, as well as the completion of assignments.
