What's Involved

This course is structured to allow you to achieve a level of maturity in intellectual, critical and practical skills appropriate for higher level study. You will develop skills required for visual research and development of ideas which will allow you to improve your understanding of the creative world. The Exploratory Stage gives you the chance to experience a range of subject areas, materials and processes and to develop your drawing and research skills. You will build on your understanding and skills in multi-disciplines from a range of practices and will experiment with a range of materials, methods and approaches to create a portfolio of work.

Entry Requirements

Level 3 Art and Design qualifications. Suitability will be established at a portfolio interview, with qualifications and subject-specific skills taken into account.

Where will it take me?

The course is designed to provide guidance in building a portfolio to access degree level courses in the creative arts. Progression can be to Higher Apprenticeships (Level 4/Foundation Degree), University to study a specialised vocational degree or Honours Degree. Many of our former students have gone on to study degree programmes such as painting, printmaking, design, photography, film, animation, illustration and sculpture at specialist arts universities such as Central St Martins, University of the Arts London, Ravensbourne and Goldsmiths. Other students have chosen to seek an apprenticeship or employment.
