What's Involved

This qualification is suitable for students who have an interest in art, design, media or a related subject and wish to explore and extend this interest via a full-time, immersive learning experience. Students will develop and test their creativity within a structure that will provide a sound base of skills and knowledge, while enhancing self-confidence and revealing the potential career demands and opportunities within the art and design sector.

You can expect to study:

  • Introduction to materials, processes and technical skills
  • Drawing skills
  • Solving 2D and 3D creative problems
  • Solving time-based creative problems
  • Developing and producing a personal project in Art and Design

This course is designed as preparation to move up to Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE level) study. The course is studied over one year, alongside English and Maths.

Students will work on a number of practical assignments in units and will be assessed on a grade scale of Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Entry Requirements

Suitability will be established at interview, with qualifications and subject specific skills taken into account.

Where will it take me?

This course is designed for progression onto one of our Level 2 courses in Art and Design or Media.
