What's Involved

This is a one year programme which aims to develop your skills and understanding of the industry as you build a firm foundation for progression onto University.

You will participate in interactive lectures, seminars and debates both with your class and with guest speakers. These will cover a range of topics designed to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the following key areas within counselling, social care and related professions:

  • Counselling skills;
  • Making sense of counselling intervention;
  • The role of the counsellor;
  • Ethical responsibilities and framework;
  • Counselling values;
  • Counselling in a diverse society;
  • Meeting the needs of different client groups and placement providers;
  • Research skills.

You will also work on your academic, study, literacy and examination skills alongside preparation for university.

Entry Requirements

  • English and maths GCSE at grade 4 (C) or above.

Where will it take me?

You will have the opportunity to progress onto a BA in Integrative Counselling.

Employment opportunities could involve work for local authorities, private practices counselling agencies and the NHS.

Course Assessment Method

You will be assessed through examinations, assignments and practical assessments.
