Single Equality Scheme
Havering College students get on board with the launch of the new ‘Single Equality Scheme’
During April 2010, students from across the College took part in a variety of activities and events to gain a greater understanding of Diversity and Equality and to help launch the College’s new policy.
Tutor groups from each campus created colourful diversity umbrella posters depicting the six strands of the new policy (Age, Sex, Disability, Religion/ Belief, Sexual Orientation and Race). These were judged with winners and runners up awarded prizes of high street vouchers and chocolates.
Student Services organised a programme of activities for the week so students could get involved and express the way they feel about Equality and Diversity at Havering College. This included art and craft activities such as candle decorating, badge making and using fabric pens to draw faith symbols onto cotton bags. College Communicators led a signed performance of ‘Proud’ (M People) which students and staff participated in.
