What are we aiming for in Equality and Diversity in 2010-2011?
Some of the objectives listed in our action plans are:
- Review college committee structure to improve under-representation of males.
- Improve availability of Equality and Diversity teaching and learning resources available on the intranet.
- Investigate joining Stonewall.
- Increase disability awareness amongst staff.
- Explore new assistive technology to support learners.
- Ensure all BME and LDD learners have success rates within 5% of college target of 80%.
- Raise the profile of anti-bullying measures.
- Reduce the number of students failing to provide information on disabilities.
Ten Equality and Diversity Achievements for 2009 – 2010- Equality and Diversity sections on website and staff intranet improved.
- Student launch week of the college Single Equality and Diversity Scheme resulted in 600 student competition entries.
- New partnership developed with Havering PCT resulting in shared expertise and meeting attendance.
- Student Academic Representative (StAR) conference held in June 2010 focused on Equality and Diversity issues.
- Smartboard functionality improved to ensure access to ILT resources for all users.
- Marketing materials improved with new language options introduced.
- Extensive training delivered across college to embed Equality and Diversity in the curriculum.
- College appointment of Equality and Diversity Champion.
- Equality and Diversity awareness sessions delivered to all staff including contractors across-college.
- Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) training delivered to key college managers with all relevant plans, policies and procedures mapped to a matrix for action.
