Is this course for me?

This course will develop your ability to analyse the various forms of communication and culture, to relate debates about communication and culture to your own life experiences and to broaden your communications skills.

 

What will I study?

There are two units: 1. Understanding Communication and Culture In this unit you will explore the various definitions of culture and the competing claims over the value of "high" and "low" culture. Amongst other topics, you will also explore the relationship between verbal and non-verbal communication and the way in which identity links with self-presentation. 2. The Individual and Contemporary Culture You will investigate the ways in which the self is presented, with a particular focus on clothing, hairstyles, body adornments, language and personal possessions. You will also explore debates relating to public communication, such as signage and graffiti.

A2 Communication and Culture

 

What employment does this relate to?

A Level Communication and Culture is primarily an academic qualification and should be taken with a range of other subjects. Completion of a range A Levels qualifies you to apply for a number of jobs, both within the communication industries and beyond.

Through a combination of coursework and external examinations
