Social Work Bursaries
Social Work degree students can apply for the social work bursary through NHSBSA. The application pack is available at www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/Students.aspx or call 08456 101122. Full-time students can get approximately £4,000 payable in 3 instalments and their tuition fees paid. Part-time students can get in the region of £1,700 payable in 3 instalments and their fees paid. This is non-means-tested and non-repayable, but students must meet the residency criteria. The bursary can only pay tuition fees that are not already covered by Student Finance, so it is important that social work students do not have the tuition fee loan. The social work bursary is not a NHS bursary.
Candidates applying for part-time need to email the college he@havering-college.ac.uk or Threshold Services on 01708 462793 at Ardleigh Green Campus, Ardleigh Green Road, Hornchurch, Essex RM11 2LL.
Students considering secondment from their existing employing agency will need to make application through their training department. Employing agencies may have their own procedures for selecting candidates suitable for secondment. These students must also apply through UCAS at the earliest opportunity.
ALL candidates are selected through a process that includes:
- Completion of application form
- References
- CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check
- Written test
- Individual interview
- Selection panel
- Evidence of literacy and numeracy capability at Level 2 minimum
