14/19 YEAR OLDS   |   Diplomas

The 14 – 19 Diplomas are designed to give learners the opportunity to undertake applied studies in a range of areas. By 2013 there will be 17 diplomas that a young person at key stage 4 and beyond can choose from.

You would study a diploma at key stage 4 through years 10 and 11. You would also study core GCSE's as well as other related qualifications.

Diplomas come in 3 levels:

  • Level 1, also called Foundation
  • Level 2, also called Higher
  • Level 3, also called Advanced
At present diplomas are being phased in through pilot schemes.
Some schools are not yet involved in diplomas. Below is a table of schools and colleges involved together with timelines for delivery:
