We recognise that teachers are key advisers to young learners and play an important role in the information that is received by them regarding their future plans, desires and aspirations.
Havering College has a wealth of courses and resources that teachers can access in order to advise their learners effectively or to progress their own learning.
The Schools Liaison section of the college can arrange a variety of events that enable learners to:
• Learn more about what is offer at the college
• Ease transition from school to college
• Inform teaching staff about college procedures, offers, support structures
• Offer Information, Advice and Guidance to learners
• Give learners (of any age) the chance to ‘taste’ courses at the college
• Achieve qualifications by undertaking part time study at the college during key stage 4
The Schools Liaison team can also arrange opportunities for teaching staff to:
• Understand the National Qualification Framework
• Know more about progression routes and career opportunities
• Feel confident about the application/interview process and support systems for learners
• Update on key 14-19 reforms (locally and nationally)
• Be briefed on the full range of curriculum offer at the college
We are also able to offer bespoke assistance and support to teachers, schools and learners, some examples are listed below:
• Help and consultancy in establishing new qualifications within schools
• Assistance and advice regarding appropriate kit, equipment, facilities needed to support developing curriculum areas
• Specific courses for learners who require a different kind of curriculum
• Invitations to attend prestigious college events, such as lunches with Olympic champions for learners who deserve a reward or who need encouragement
If you are a teacher in a school and think that we can help you on any of things listed above, or have a specific request, please contact The Schools Liaison Team on:
