Young Apprenticeships
Young Apprenticeships became available in Havering for the first time during 2008/09 and will be offered to some local schools in partnership with the College and the Local Authority.
A Young Apprenticeship (YA) is a programme that takes up to 2 days per week in key stage 4.
A learner would study on a YA for two years, throughout years 10 and 11. The learner would also study GCSE's for the rest of the week, at their school.
A YA is a mixture of work experience (1 day a week) college-based study (1 day a week). All Young Apprenticeships are Level 2 studies.
The YA currently on offer at the college is in Business Administration. Learners on this YA attend the college on a Thursday and study the BTEC First Diploma in Business (equivalent to 4 GCSE's). Placement days vary according to the school.
Not all schools in Havering offer Young Apprenticeships, those currently involved are: Royal Liberty, Marshalls Park, Bower Park and Frances Bardsley.
From September 2009 the following YA's will be on offer at the college:
- Business Administration
- Hospitality, Food and Drink
- Construction
If you would like more information on Young Apprenticeships, ask at your school to see if they will be offering any of the YA's and watch this space for more news or you can follow the links from the following websites:
