MODULES

Enabling Work Based Learning and Assessment (Enabling Others)
 
A series of workshops for those acting as on-site supervisors of social work students and also for practice educators who want to refresh their skills and knowledge. You can attend individuals workshops or the whole course.

The aim of the workshops is to set out the context for practice learning and to enable on-site supervisors and practice educators to develop their knowledge and skills in supervision, teaching and assessment.
The workshops will take the attendees through the journey of a social work practice placement.

Workshops One and Two: Introduction to Social Work Practice Placements introduce you to the context of social work practice placement, GSCC requirements and expectations, key roles and values, Understanding roles and responsibilities and focus on preparing for a social work practice placement.

Workshop Three: Supervision and Assessment focus on principles of supervision and how on-site supervisors and practice assessors are involved in the assessment of students.

Workshop Four: Anti-Oppressive Practice and Reflection focus on how to assess within an anti-oppressive practice framework and support students to undertake anti-oppressive practice as well as facilitating reflection and self evaluation in this area.

Workshop Five: Direct Observations and Managing Poor Performance: This workshop focuses on undertaking direct observations and the giving of feedback from these as well as exploring how respond and manage poor student performance and what to do when things go wrong.


Post Graduate Certificate / Post Graduate Diploma in Practice Education (Higher Specialist Level)

The modules are made up of 20 credit points. A student needs 120 credit points to be awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Practice Education (Higher Specialist Level), but for those who have gained 60 credit points and do not wish to continue studying, the Post Graduate Certificate in Practice Education can be awarded.
