Students Union
All Havering College students are automatically part of the Students’ Union. This is led by an elected committee who work closely with Student Services to offer a range of extra curricular activities including fundraising, trips, awareness raising events and parties. If you want to gain the most from your student experience at Havering College and are willing to work hard as part of a team, putting yourself forward for election could prove an excellent decision!
Students’ course qualifications are complimented by the opportunity to have other achievements recognised and celebrated. For example, being an active part of the Students’ Union would be a positive thing to include in a UCAS application.
The Class/Tutor Group Representatives and the Student's Union are forums to give learners the opportunity to have a say in what happens within the College. We value the ‘student voice’.
Activities and events organised and led by the Students’ Union members continuously contribute to the vibrant and creative environment around the College. In the past the S.U. Officers have overseen the opening event of ‘The Square’ where DJ Spoony was present and various competitions and activities successfully took place. The S.U. during last academic year led a fundraising event to raise money for ‘Jeans for Genes Day’ and Children In Need, were actively involved in the College’s Respect Campaign, got involved with community events at a local primary school and Cotton’s Park Fun Day and organised a successful end of year party held at a venue in Ilford.
A perk to being a student at Havering College is the opportunity to purchase an N.U.S. Extra Card. N.U.S. is the National Union of Students and the Extra Card is a nationally recognised student discount card which can be used at many high street shops and on-line companies, e.g. Amazon, Superdrug, Warehouse, McDonalds, JJB and many more.
