Step 1
Once you have decided on the course, please fill in an Application Form. If you have enquired by phone, this can be posted to you by our Threshold Department. The completed application form should be sent back to the Threshold Department, International Officer, indicating which course you are interested in.
Step 2
You MUST contact International Development Unit, International Business Development Manager or Accommodation Officer, if student accommodation is required. Please click here to fill in an International Accommodation Form.
The application form, together with all the other supporting documents and qualifications, are passed from Threshold Services to the respective academic department for a decision on whether to offer a place, conditionally or unconditionally.
A PROVISIONAL LETTER to offer a place is sent out from Threshold Services with a request for an initial deposit of at least 50% of the tuition fees.
Step 3
Pay your deposit. This will secure a place on the selected course. Any amount higher than the suggested 50% deposit will increase your chances of being granted a visa.
Upon receipt of the deposit, an ACCEPTANCE LETTER is issued. This letter gives details of the course, start dates and the duration. The ACCEPTANCE LETTER states that you are registered to attend a course at Havering College and should be submitted to the British Embassy or High Commission when applying for a student visa. You will also need bank statements and proof that you can support yourself in the UK.
If you require advice on applying for visas, please contact the British Council Office in your country, whose staff will be most helpful. Click here to visit the British Council website.
Step 4
Once you have received your student visa, you should contact the International Development Unit (details given in the Accommodation Form) to inform us when you expect to arrive in the UK so that arrangements can be made to meet/greet and take you to your accommodation.
Step 5
Welcome. On arrival at the College, you are to report to the International Development Unit to be advised of further procedures. An appointment will be made for you to meet the Accommodation and Student Welfare Officer, and the Curriculum Manager where necessary.
The International Development Unit is situated in Room A017 at Ardleigh Green Campus.
