A supported internship is a programme of study designed to better enable young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to achieve sustainable paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for the workplace.It is ideal if you are progressing within the College.

The course focuses on employment. It is a three day programme which will centre on a place of employment for two days a week and one day at College. The structured study programme includes on-the-job training provided by expert job coaches (if needed); this will be gradually reduced as and when appropriate for your needs.

There is a chance to study the OCR Cambridge Progression in English and Maths and Work preparation if approrpiate.

You will also participate in enterprise activities and undertake a work placement (supported if necessary).

If you would like to prepare for employment, then this course can help you.

You will follow a curriculum which will include:

  • Interview skills,
  • Self-management,
  • Planning and running an enterprise activity,
  • Job searching,
  • Self-advocacy.

If you would like to develop your skills in everyday life, then this is a course is for you.

You will follow a wide curriculum which will include horticulture, health and fitness, expressive arts and woodwork, along with everyday maths, English and ICT. You will also participate in enterprise activities and have the opportunity to undertake a supported work placement, where appropriate.

This award is designed for students who have learning difficulties.

You will study:

  • Skills for daily life;
  • Cooking;
  • Home craft;
  • Community awareness;
  • Everyday maths, English and ICT;
  • Supported work placement, where appropriate.
