You will have the opportunity to look at different vocational areas whilst on this course. These units of study will give you the opportunity to try different vocational areas so you can then go on and choose your individual pathway.

You will complete the below units giving you an insight into different vocational areas:

• Basic Cooking • Exploring and Presenting Enterprise Ideas • Food Service • Introduction to Self-Employment • Introduction to the Hospitality Industry • Working in Construction

You will also attend English and maths sessions and will have the opportunity to undertake a supported work placement.

You will follow a curriculum which will include:

  • Sport and Fitness: Taking part in health and fitness, anatomy of the body, job opportunities in the sport and leisure industry and nutrition.
    • Business and Retail: Ideas for small businesses, recording business transactions and job opportunities in retail and business.

Both routes will be studied alongside OCR Cambridge Progression in English and Maths. You will also participate in enterprise activities and have the opportunity to undertake a supported work placement. This qualification is the Pearson Edexcel Diploma in Vocational Studies.

These qualifications are designed to develop some of the basic skills needed to look after yourself independently.

You will follow a curriculum which will include:

  • Personal Care
  • Leisure Activities & Personal Development
  • Household Skills

An accredited maths & English qualification will be studied alongside this. You will also participate in enterprise activities and have the opportunity to undertake a supported work placement.

The qualification is called NOCN Entry Level Certificate in Independent Living.

You will be fully supported and undertake:

  • Travelling: using public transport;
  • Personal safety in the community;
  • Investigating health, social and emergency services;
  • Shopping for daily living (entry);
  • Hygiene and safety in the kitchen;
  • Cleaning, washing, drying and storing laundry;
  • Healthy living (entry);
  • Managing own money;
  • Enterprise;
  • Work experience;
  • English and maths.
