  • Health and safety;
  • Care of children;
  • Play and practical activities.

If you wish to progress to a level 2 qualification will complete a placement in a pre-school at the end of the year.

The aim of this framework is: To support the development of a highly qualified, well skilled workforce within the Children and Young People's sector, and ensure that children and young people accessing services in England gain the best possible care and support.

The duration of this Apprenticeship is generally 12-18 months.

You will work both in the classroom and in the workplace to develop your skills and understanding across the following topics:

  • Introducing the Role of the Early Years Practitioner
  • Legislation, Frameworks and Professional Practice
  • Play, Development and Learning for School Readiness
  • Professional Development

If you have not yet achieved a grade C (or above) in GCSE English and maths, you will be required to attend GCSE resit sessions (if you achieved grade D) or functional skills sessions (if you achieved grade E or below).

A range of units which include:

  • Children's health,
  • Safety,
  • Play,
  • Rights and responsibilities,
  • Children's routines,
  • Healthy living.
