What’s involved

You will study a range of topics to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the following key areas within the teaching profession:

Throughout the course you will also undertake a research project and also undertake units , that focus on developing your academic, literacy and examination skills.

You will need access to a primary school setting in order to carry out  observations and case studies for assignments.

Entry requirements

At least GSCE Grade C in English and Maths (or similar level 2 qualification)

Where will it take me?

You will have the opportunity to progress to the Foundation Degree in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or a degree in Education.

Employment opportunities could include work as a teaching assistant. You would need a full degree before becoming a teacher and undertake a teacher training course.

Programme Assessment Method

You will be assessed through examinations, assignments and presentations.

What’s involved

This course is ideal for anyone looking to pursue a future career within the Creative Arts industry. The range of career opportunity in Creative Arts is diverse and the Access course at Havering College is designed specifically to meet the needs of adult learners in preparation for progression to higher education. Through practical projects you will expand both your technical and creative skills and be encouraged to develop your study skills including research, analysis and presentation of your creative thinking process. You will have access to practical workshops and studios to develop your skills.

Entry requirements

You do not need any formal qualifications but an aptitude for creating artworks and ability to think through design problems. There are also written elements to the course so a good level of literacy is helpful.

Where will it take me?

The course is recognised as meeting the entry requirement of colleges, universities and other institutions providing higher education courses. You can also apply to our own range of HE programmes at the College. Career opportunities include: Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Media, Multimedia, Photography, Advertising, Product Design, Furniture Design, Film/Theatre Set and Costume Design and Teaching.

Programme Assessment Method

There are no exams and you will be assessed on completion of coursework.
